Alphalea Arabians is operated from our 1000 acre sheep farm and the smaller 270 acre irrigation property in Brunswick near Bunbury, Western Australia.

I first began breeding Part Arabian Palominos in 1979/80 producing two Supreme Champions but was well and truly smitten by the Purebred Arabian mare I had used in that program. So much so that I set about searching for the nucleus of my Arabian Stud with the Bostocks/Polish lines sire Kejome Kamil (dec'd) – a five times Champion at Perth Royal Show (A) WA State Champion (A) Autumn Horse Show (A) Champion and a lovely group of Polish related and Russian mares.

In 1989 I imported the Pure Polish sire Vivo (dec'd) bred by Janow Podlaski State Stud, Poland – a Champion in several States in the USA at Regional level and very successful in Australia as a 12 yr old. I also acquired the precious Pure Polish bay daughter of Euni (Bandos x Eunice) Essence from Mulawa Stud specially to breed to Vivo which resulted in the progenitor of this line for the stud – Revel.

Lusia with Amber GemI have undertaken a very successful A.I. program and bred four fillies by Padrons Psyche, USA Res. National Champion, three of which have been shown to A class Champion or Reserve Champion.

Alphalea has always been awarded highly at shows despite limited opportunity, most recently being in receipt of all of the major awards In Hand at the WA All Arabian Show 2008, with Champion foal; Champion Filly and Supreme Champion Junior Exhibit and Champion Mare and Supreme Champion Senior Exhibit.

To date I am the only West Australian breeder who has presented a home-bred colt to win Top 5 2 & 3 year old Colt at the East Coast Championships (AAA) with Mark Wharton at the lead, judged by Lenita Peroy of Brazil. Revel has stood in line for top awards alongside some of the East Coast's top show stallions on more than one occasion with Adam King and with Donna Sadler.

The addition of AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL CHAMPION STALLION 2006 SADIKS PSYCHE (Padrons Psyche x Serdika [Simeon Sadik x Serrefa] Aus.Ch Top 10 mare) brings a most exciting opportunity for Alphalea Arabians and West Australian breeders from the 2008 season.

Some new broodmares have recently joined the stud

  • The very rare and precious daughter of Narim (Moment x Nejnaia, a full sibling of Nariadni); Greengrove Sasha who is out of Greengrove Vnuchka.
  • Greengrove Anastasia by Barabas out of Greengrove Tanya (Neapol x Viola) along with
  • Turingal Park La Kizzja by Greengrove Vussja (Simeon Samuel x Vnuchka) out of TP Lalique (Shatoor x Piaf)
  • Bint Nadia by TS Al Malik (Aus.Ch.) out of Greengrove Nadia (Barabas x Greengrove Ludmilla) continues to make us proud in partnership with Cheryl Edwards. winning high accolades in the performance and In Hand Show rings simultaneously, proving that beauty does also perform.

In addition to the Russian group,

  • Halimas Dancing Princess is a lovely daughter of the Straight Egyptian Prince Fa Moniet out of a Polish/Egyptian mare, Dancing Shadow, an Australian Top 10 Filly and East Coast Champion Filly.
  • Halimas Amber Gem a fabulous daughter of Sanadik Ibn Estopa (Aus. Ch. Colt and Aus. Ch. Top 10 Snr. Stallion) out of a daughter of Prince Fa Moniet and Alii x Yanah Ibn Estopa was a Top 5 winner at the East Coast Championships Show as a yearling and she continues her winning ways in partnership with Cheryl Edwards.

The biggest challenge to my stud is the long distance breeding it is necessary to conduct in order to move forward with the bloodlines I wish to incorporate, and to maintain one's ideals in the face of show ring fashion.
